The courses below show the range of HSE first aid courses suitable for most workplaces. Once you have carried out the first aid needs assessment and risk assessment you will know the level and quantity of first aiders required for your workplace. More advice on first aid needs can be found on the HSE website or you contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
All of these HSE First aid courses are regulated. This gives you as an employer assurance that the qualifications meet the minimum requirements as set out by the HSE and also proves that DSES and the courses they offer satisfy your requirements to carry out due diligence on training providers and the courses they offer. All of these courses can be run at your venue or we can arrange a training venue on your behalf. Please contact us to enquire about pricing or to make a booking.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is the shortest and most basic first aid course set out by the HSE. It covers basic first aid procedures including CPR, choking, reporting responsibilities and basic medical conditions. EFAW is suitable for low-risk work environments (for example offices or retail environments) with small numbers of employees.
First Aid at Work (FAW) covers all of the same content of EFAW but includes much more including fractures and spinal injuries, head injuries, shock, poisoning and a wider range of medical conditions. FAW is suitable for higher risk environments (such as engineering works or warehousing) or workplaces with higher numbers of employees
Emergency First Aid at Work courses and First Aid at Work course are valid for 3 years, however, the HSE strongly recommend that refresher training is undertaken every year to ensure key skills are not lost. This short half-day course covers the requirements of this refresher training and will ensure your first aiders skills are kept up to date and not lost over time
First Aid at Work certificates are valid for 3 years. After 3 years, an employee can attend a 2-day re-qualification course to extend their certificate for a further 3 years. Candidates on this course must have an in-date first aid at work certificate to complete this course. If you do not have a certificate or you're certificate has expired then you will need to complete a 3-day first aid at work course
