This course is suitable for anyone working or providing emergency care in an environment where oxygen is available for patient care. It is aimed primarily at dentists, dental nurses and nurses however it is suitable for anyone holding a first aid qualification (evidence of qualification must be provided for all attendees).
The course syllabus includes regulations and best practice for the storage, handling and use of oxygen and compressed gases, indications and contra-indications for the use of oxygen and how to use oxygen delivery equipment.
This course is valid for 3 years with refresher training recommended every 12 months.
This course of suitable for qualified first aiders who may be in an environment where anaphylactic reactions are a concern or persons is at heightened risk of suffering an anaphylactic reaction. This can include staff in schools, nurseries and catering facilities, along with anyone who has a responsibility to provide emergency care to anyone at risk of anaphylaxis.
The course syllabus includes identification of allergic reactions and anaphylactic reactions, treatment of anaphylaxis, the use of auto-injectors and basic life support for breathing and non-breathing patients. This course is valid for 3 years with refresher training recommended every 12 months.
This course is ideal for workplaces or environments where a specific risk of catastrophic bleeding has been highlighted. Examples include forestry workers using chainsaws, agricultural or heavy machinery operators and security services with access to firearms as part of their provision.
The course covers: what is and isn't catastrophic bleeding, protocols to control catastrophic bleeding and the use of specialist products including haemostatic agents and tourniquets.
This course can be combined with some of our other courses for organisations who require a more complete or all-round first aid training package. Please contact us for more details.
Ideal for environments where there is an increased risk of cardiac arrest, or for delegates working in remote environments or environments where there may be a delay in accessing definitive medical care.
The course content includes the airway cascade, the use of postural drainage and suction, airway adjuncts and a refresher on CPR and defibrillation.
